About Beatriz Boizán

Beatriz Boizán is admired for her vibrant personality, charismatic stage presence, unique musicianship and innate talent to deliver breathtakingly innovative performances. Her recent debut with Ontario Philharmonic was followed by a performance with world renowned cellist Mischa Maisky at Classical 96.3FM Toronto Concert. Future engagements include recitals at St. James’s Piccadilly in London, England, among others. Her concert at Steinway Piano Gallery Toronto will feature the dazzling arrangement by Vladimir Horowitz of Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody #2 and selections from her debut album Pasión, a collection of captivating Spanish and Latin American compositions, a repertoire for which she was encouraged by the late Alicia de Larrocha.

Born into a musical family in Baracoa, Cuba, Ms. Boizán began her piano studies with her grandmother, Esclarecida Guilarte. An honours graduate from the National School of Music in Havana, she continued her musical training in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia, and obtained her Master in Music degree at the University of Alberta. Masterclasses attended: Leon Fleisher (2001), James Parker (2004) and Jerome Rose (2008).
